What even is Osteopathy?

  • Detailed case history taking and instructed tests can enable diagnosis even if you are not in the clinic room. A comprehensive, detailed knowledge of anatomy & physiology underpins understanding of the individual and their pain and informs lifestyle and exercise advice to manage it.

  • Osteopaths are trained to degree level or above and must be registered with our Statutory Regulator the General Osteopathic Council as well as being fully insured to practise.

  • Osteopaths are Primary Healthcare Practitioners which means you do not have to be referred by your GP but will refer you on if appropriate.

  • Unfortunately osteopathy is still not widely available on the NHS, although on the positive side this means no waiting lists and flexible appointments.

What kinds of things do osteopaths assess and  treat?
  • aches and pains all over, not just in your back!

  • joint pains including hip and knee pain from osteoarthritis in association with other treatment for this condition

  • arthritic pain

  • sports injuries and tensions

  • neck & back pain

  • headache arising from the neck

  • shoulder and elbow pain

  • joint pains and lumbago

  • sciatica

  • muscle spasms
